By voting, you are not giving authority to anyone! The word authority comes from author. Nobody has authority on you, except your parent or the boss you indirectly chose with your job.
It's about minimizing damages, injuries and deaths. Voters are not responsible if the lesser evil they are allowed to vote produces evil, at least it is less evil than the other "choice".
It's not the same to have half a million than 1 million yearly abortions: 2 million babies could be saved along 4 years by your vote. They will thank you in person in Heaven!

It's a simple premise that ensures the safety of everyone more than any other principle does.
