Consider this. In any community - large or small, there are two fundamental ethics: cooperate and compete.
A community is firstly defined by cooperation, which can be seen as mutual assistance - although not necessarily occurring at the same time.
We can judge a community as present whenever two or more living organisms - not just people - are cooperating for mutual benefit. Ants cooperate.
If two people, or one thousand people are not cooperating, they are not a community. If they are cooperating, they are a community. This works with husband and wife, and just as well for "all of the fans in a football stadium." Cooperation defines community. Large communities generally consist of smaller communities, which can have different cooperative ethics.
What about competition? Back to the football stadium. The two teams are competing. Each of the players, on each team is cooperating to compete with the other team. But there are rules. Rulse defined "fair competition."
Ants cooperate. But individual ants also compete. But they don't eat their own kind.
Fair competition defines community. Unfair competition is what gets the individual ejected from the community.
In a football stadium, there are many communities, many communities of cooperation and competition. Two fans of the same time might be cooperating to cheer their team, competing (in fun) to pay for the beer, and competing - not in fun for a mate of the opposite sex. In each case of competition, there are "ethics". In each case of ethics, breaking the ethic can change the community. Every change in community results in changes in ethics.
We might view cooperation as the "betterment ethic," but it's not so simple. Communities that ONLY COOPERATE stagnate. The only way out of stagnation is competition. Healthy competition, within the ethics of the community, also serves to better the community.

Ami doesn’t put all this information here for us to ignore! It is truth! Truth is one of, if not THE most important “concept” that we need to look to, know and use!
Truth WILL set us free-all of us who have been/are slaves! Disabled/elderly/children will all be cared for! Don’t fear “them”, the psychopaths any more.
And stop giving “them” your digital information. Use your phone only as a phone. Apps are meant to capture us, digitally. Think about what you do in the digital world every day, and look to ending it, even if it’s bit by bit. (Pun intended) And I’m aware of the irony of saying this on the internet, but what else have we got for now.
This may surprise some younger people, but we got by without “cellphones”. They were introduced very gradually, but always as a “must have” item. NO!!
Most welcome! I too was raised with the work "ethic." But I discovered the true purpose for pushing it. And I like having the Betterment Ethic, because it promotes consciously looking for ways to make it better, rather than reacting with care and compassion - not that that is in any way bad. LOL!
Thank You for Your payment of attention! I am enriched!

I agree with all You wrote, and perhaps I might do some clarification.
Definition of the Betterment Ethic: Looking for ways to make things better - for Those around You on up to around the globe - and creating them.
This is not just passive cooperation. This is active effort.
